CO2

Classic or Fractional

The CO2 Laser is a technology used to effectively treat various skin imperfections while stimulating skin regeneration and improving its appearance. The laser primarily targets water, the major component of the skin. By heating or vaporizing the water present in the skin, the laser emits invisible infrared light, allowing precise destruction of any skin element containing water.

We use two modes of the CO2 Laser in dermatological treatments:

Classic CO2 Laser

The CO2 Laser is an incredibly precise and fine tool. With its ultra-pulsed continuous action, it provides an ideal solution for removing small benign skin lesions. The treatment is conducted in a targeted and precise manner, which helps avoid surgical excision with a scalpel, thus minimizing the risk of visible scarring. The CO2 Laser effectively treats various lesions such as:
_ Seborrheic warts
_ Syringomas
_ Fibrous papules
_ Verrucous harmatomas
_ Xanthelasma

Fractional CO2 Laser

Indications: Perioral fine lines, acne scars, skin texture

Duration: 30 minutes

Return to work: 3 to 7 days after

Results: Progressive, visible after 1 to 2 weeks

Frequency: 2 to 3 sessions

The Fractional CO2 Laser significantly improves fine lines, acne scars, skin texture, and offers a tightening effect. This treatment works by creating micro-thermal punctures distributed in a programmed matrix.

The Fractional CO2 Laser is especially recommended for treating wrinkled areas such as the cheeks, the area around the eyes, and perioral lines. It can also be used across the entire face.

Before the Treatment

To reduce the risks of pigmentation issues and avoid other unwanted effects, some precautions should be taken:
_ Avoid sun and UV exposure for 3 to 4 weeks prior to the session.
_ Do not use self-tanning creams.
_ Apply a daily moisturizing cream one week before the session.
_ For patients with a history of cold sores, it’s advised to take anti-herpes medication before the treatment to prevent flare-ups.

For greater comfort, the treatment is performed under a numbing cream. Immediately after the session, the skin may become red with a warm sensation, similar to a sunburn. This is normal and can be alleviated with painkillers.

Post-Treatment Effects

The post-treatment effects can last from 1 to 2 days:
_ The skin may be red, warm, and slightly swollen.
_ Fine scabs will appear between day 1 and day 3.
_ From day 3 or 4, the skin will begin to peel, much like a sunburn. A moisturizing and healing cream is recommended.

Generally, 2 to 4 sessions spaced a month apart are recommended. Results are progressive, reaching their full potential between 6 and 9 months after the treatment.
