THINNING HAIR AND LOSS OF DENSITY

Over time, due to hormonal factors, stress or periods of fatigue, hair can become finer, shed more or lose density. In both women and men, this often shows as a widening parting, less voluminous hair or a scalp that looks more visible.

At the practice in Bidart, near Biarritz, two options are offered to stimulate the follicles and gradually improve hair quality and density: hair PRP alone, or autologous micrografts combined with PRP. Depending on your needs, they can be complemented by hair mesotherapy or polynucleotides. A prior consultation makes sure these treatments are suited to your situation.

HAIR PRP

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is prepared from a simple blood sample taken at the practice. After centrifugation, the platelet-concentrated plasma, rich in growth factors, is injected through micro-injections into the affected areas of the scalp.

Hair PRP stimulates weakened follicles, helps slow hair loss and gradually improves hair quality and density. It is suitable for both women and men, particularly for thinning hair or early to moderate androgenetic alopecia.

Indicative protocol: an initial course of 3 to 4 sessions about one month apart, followed by personalised maintenance.

AUTOLOGOUS MICROGRAFTS AND PRP

This treatment combines PRP with autologous micrografts taken from your own tissue (Dermomine® technique). A very small piece of skin is taken from behind the ear, an area protected from the sun, under local anaesthesia. It is mechanically processed and filtered at the practice, and the resulting micrografts are mixed with platelet-rich plasma prepared during the same session. This mixture is then injected into the areas where density is decreasing.

This approach aims to support the follicles still present and to improve hair quality and density. It is particularly suitable for thinning hair or more marked loss of density.

Indicative protocol: generally one session per year.

IN PRACTICE

Reference photographs are taken before treatment to monitor progress. Results are gradual and assessed over several months: reduced shedding, better hair quality and an improved impression of density. The response varies from person to person, depending on how long density has been decreasing and the condition of the scalp.
