At the practice in Bidart, near Biarritz, the HandPico laser offers a fractional mode dedicated to skin rejuvenation. This rejuvenation treatment stimulates collagen renewal in depth to soften fine lines, refine skin texture and restore firmness, with very little downtime. It can be performed all year round and is suitable for all skin types.

HOW IT WORKS

In fractional mode, the laser beam is divided into a multitude of highly concentrated picosecond micro-pulses. These create micro-zones of stimulation within the skin without burning or damaging the surface. The skin responds with a natural repair process: production of new collagen and elastic fibres, and gradual remodelling of the dermis.

Unlike conventional fractional lasers, which work through heat, the picosecond laser acts mainly through a mechanical effect. The epidermis is preserved, which limits downtime and the risk of pigment reactions. This is what makes this laser so valuable: it can be used all year round, including in summer, and on all skin types, from fair to olive and dark skin.

THE TREATMENT

An initial consultation allows the skin to be examined, the areas to be treated defined and a personalised protocol established. A numbing cream may be applied before the session for extra comfort. During treatment, the sensation is one of light pinpricks.

AFTER THE SESSION

Redness and slight swelling may appear and usually settle within 24 to 48 hours. Slight purpura (small red dots) may occasionally appear and fades within a few days; settings can be adjusted to your wishes and constraints. Make-up can generally be worn again the next day. High-SPF sun protection is essential throughout the course of treatment.

RESULTS

Collagen rebuilds slowly: the first effects appear a few weeks after the session and continue to improve for several months after the end of the protocol. The treatment can be combined with other procedures, such as polynucleotides or collagen stimulators, to optimise skin quality.
